Recap:

On May 7th 2016, the Botswana Embassy participated in the Annual Passport DC (Open House). The Open House is an event where embassies open their doors to thousands of visitors from all over the USA to learn about and appreciate their countries’ culture and tourism. More than 70 embassies participated in the 9th Open House event this year.

This year, BOTWASH’s theme was to promote BOT 50 by telling the Botswana story; showcasing pictures depicting Botswana’s history and transformation through the years. There were also displays of culture through visual and performing arts in addition to samples of prominent fashion designers, Botswana baskets, agricultural products and artifacts, traditional dance, poetry, Setswana cuisine and even face painting in Botswana’s national colors. Over 7000 guests visited the Embassy, which is the highest number of visitors we have hosted since we started participating in 2012.
